New in - Canvas Wall Art

Gallery walls, without the headache.

Twelve new canvas sets, designed in our UK studio. Every piece already matches the one next to it - so there's no hunting round for prints that go together. Open the box, hang them up, put the kettle on.

Why Arthouse Wall-Art

Designed to go together.

Same UK design studio behind our wallpaper. Same eye for what actually works in a real room.

Designed in our UK studio

Every set is drawn, coloured and signed off by our own design team. Not bought in, not licensed.

The matching is already done

Colour, scale and pattern are worked out across the whole set. Hang them as they come and it looks considered, because it is.

FSC® Controlled Wood

Every canvas is stretched over timber that has been checked back through the supply chain.

Up in an afternoon

No paste, no soaking, no trestle table taking over the living room. A hook, a spirit level, a cuppa.

All our canvas wall art uses FSC® Controlled Wood, which mitigates the risk of forest products originating from unacceptable sources. fsc.org/en/cw

Botanical & floral

Flowers, leaves and stems, drawn rather than photographed. Warm ochre and coral in the Tuscany set, softer sage and peach in Abstract Botanicals, blush and blue in Paris in Bloom. All of them sit happily against magnolia, greige or a painted feature wall, which is why this is the group most people start with.

Scenic & landscape

Somewhere else, on your wall. A misty lake with mountains behind it, or cypress roads and lemon trees in Tuscany. Both do the same job: a wide, calm view that makes a small room feel like it has more air in it.

Nature & animals

An elephant framed by palms, or a hare in the hedgerow. More personality than a pattern, and the ones that work in a nursery or a child's room without looking like they were bought for a child.

Pattern & heritage

Damask, paisley and block print in soft taupes and faded blues. Arts and Crafts in deep teal and plum. If you've got a period house, or you just want pattern with some age to it, start here.

Bold & graphic

Black and white abstracts that go with everything you already own, or five panels of rainbow slogans for a playroom or a home office that needs cheering up. Two ends of the same idea: art that makes a decision.

How to hang it

A gallery wall in an afternoon.

Five steps, a tape measure and a spirit level. No special skills, no professional hanging kit.

Hang so the middle of the whole arrangement sits 145cm off the floor. That's about eye level for most people and it's what galleries use. Going above a sofa? Ignore that and leave 15–25cm between the top of the sofa back and the bottom of the canvases instead.

Find the middle of your wall and mark it lightly in pencil. Everything else gets measured out from that line, which is why it's worth being fussy about.

Largest canvas on the line, then work outwards. Start at one end and small errors add up until the last panel ends up nowhere near where you wanted it.

5cm between panels is the sweet spot for a set meant to read as one piece. Much past 8cm and it starts looking like three separate pictures that happen to be near each other.

Spirit level on each one as you go. Then walk to the far side of the room and look again. That's where you'll spot anything that's out.

Where does everything go?

Pick your set and we'll work out the measurements. Mark the centre line on your wall, then measure out from it.

Tip: This is our recommended gallery layout, but there are no strict rules. While some of our sets flow as a single image, others are separate pieces, feel free to space and arrange them to perfectly suit your room!

These are the positions of the canvases themselves. Your hook goes a little higher - measure the drop of the hanging cord or bracket on the back of the canvas and add that on.

    What about the wall itself?

Plasterboard needs a proper plasterboard fixing rather than just a nail - canvas is light, but the board isn't strong. Solid or brick walls want a drill, a wall plug and a screw. Not sure which you've got? Tap it. Hollow means plasterboard.

    Before you buy

The questions we actually get asked.

No jargon, no fluff. If we've missed something, let us know.

Email customerservices@arthouse.com or call 0333 016 4134. We're a small team, but we love to talk to our customers. Give us a call with any questions.

Is the canvas wall art ready to hang?

Yes. Each canvas is printed and stretched over a wooden frame, ready to go straight on the wall. No paste, no soaking, no trimming. You'll want a tape measure, a pencil and a spirit level, and that's about it.

    What fixings do I need?

Depends on your walls. Plasterboard needs a proper plasterboard fixing rather than a bare nail - the canvas is light, but the board isn't strong. Solid or brick walls want a drill, a plaster wall will require a plug and a screw for a secure hang.

Not sure which you've got? Tap the wall. Hollow means plasterboard.

How much wall will a set cover?

A 3 in 1 set hangs about 102cm wide with 5cm gaps between the panels, and stands 66cm tall at the centre.

As a rough guide, art looks right when it's around two thirds the width of the furniture underneath it - so that set suits a sofa or sideboard of roughly 140 to 170cm. We have develped an easy calculator that you can find above, that works out the exact measurements for you.

What are the canvases made of?

Printed canvas stretched over a wooden frame. All our canvas wall art uses FSC® Controlled Wood, which mitigates the risk of forest products originating from unacceptable sources.

How do I keep them clean?

A dry duster or a soft brush, lightly, every now and then. Don't use a damp cloth or a spray cleaner - canvas prints aren't wipe-clean the way our wallpaper is, and water will mark them.

Will they go with my wallpaper?

Every set on this page lists the colour pallet in the artwork, so you can hold them against a wallpaper sample before you commit.

One tip if you're papering and hanging art on the same wall: keep one of them quiet. A busy paper wants a simpler set, and a bold set wants a calmer paper. Two loud patterns fighting each other rarely works.
